TAKING THE LEAD among Luzon’s Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Units, Pangasinan State University- Lingayen ROTC Unit dominated the Regional Annual Administrative and Tactical Inspection (RAATI) last March 31, 2017.
The ROTC Unit which is composed of reservists from Lingayen, Binmaley, and Alaminos Campuses ranked 1st after earning 96.40 far from the second seated University of Northern Philippines with 93.96 rating.
LTC Robert G. Sison (RES) PA, Assistant Commandant and Director for Technical and Vocational Programs expressed his gratitude after notching the coveted top spot in the RAATI. He recognized the efforts and support given by the Administration led by Dr. Dexter R. Buted, University President, which he cited as one of the vital reasons in garnering the said victory.
Military inspectors commended the unit in their in-character performance on basic soldiery skills in Small Unit Tactics (SUT) after gaining the top spot in the said individual award.
Moreover, the unit also showed supremacy in dominating other criteria: Ceremonial Parade, Inspection in Ranks, Comprehensive Exam, Operation Order Writing, and Military Courtesy Discipline.
Before the inspection, Lingayen ROTC had undergone intense training for months to fight back in their 2nd runner-up finish in last year’s RAATI.
Meanwhile, thousands of PSUnians – students, faculty and non-teaching staff – had witnessed an entertaining dance number from the Lingayen ROTC units after a jawdropping formation of troop at PSU Ground.
Dr. Buted expressed his gratitude to the honorary guests led by LTC Johnny S. Bayog, RAATI Vice Chairman, Cdt Col. Alexander D. Baneg, Col. Jospicio C. Jaurigue, ROTC Superintendent/Commandant and 2LT Ellen S. Opino (INF), Tactical Office in the team’s support to PSU.
On the other hand, two other PSU ROTC units managed to march on top spots in RAATI 2017. Urdaneta Corps which is comprised of Urdaneta, Sta. Maria and Asingan Campuses earned 93.57 rating with only 0.39 close to the 2nd spot topping the Operation Order Writing and Small Unit Tactics individual award. Bayambang ROTCU, however, fell short in just 1.5 rating lead of Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College placing them to 5th spot in the over-all ranking.
Other criteria that were evaluated during the RAATI were Administration and Management, Methods of Instruction, Company Drill, Disassembling and Assembling of Cal. 5.56 mm (M16) Rifle and Cal. 45 mm pistol, Map Reading and Disaster Response and Rescue Operations.
RAATI, a yearly activity of the ARESCOM which entails actual inspection of all activated Army ROTC units in the area operation, aims to test the units’ degree of administrative efficiency, training management, proficiency, and quality of training attained by the Corps of Cadets.
