The Batch MANDAYOG 2022 Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (NSTP-ROTC) of the 104th Community Defend Center celebrated the completion of Basic and Advance ROTC Cadets through a graduation ceremony held last Friday, October 21, 2022, at the Campus Covered Court, Pangasinan State University Binmaley Campus.

A celebration of duty and service, as a total number of 41 1CL cadets who graduated from the course were acknowledged for their formidable performance and excellence as a batch of their respective class and became reservists of the Philippine Army, which was attended by cadets, cadet officers, guests, the campus executive director, and parents who were present to witness this event.

” Nakikita ko ang sarili ko sa ROTC na kung saan mararanasan ko ang mga bagay na makakatulong sa paghasa ng aking mental and physical ability (I can see myself in the field of ROTC, in which I will experience particular activities that can develop my mental and physical ability),” said by the Corps Commander Senior, John Roel L. Sudio, who is taking up of BS Criminology at the Pangasinan State University Binmaley Campus. He chooses ROTC for his National Service Training Program.

As he pursued ROTC and was appointed as Corps Commander Senior, he accepted the obligation despite undergoing intense training, encountering various challenges in leading a group, and experiencing stressful events.

“Hirap sa pagpapasunod sa mga subordinates dahil hindi pare-pareho ang bawat mindset lalo na kung patungkol sa issues “(It is difficult to get your subordinates to obey because each person’s mindset is not the same, especially regarding certain issues), told by Sudio. He also shared how hard it was for him to do both at the same time, leading his cadets and scouting his academics, especially during the online class. Furthermore, being a commander requires fast decision-making.

In August 2022, the discipline and leadership of the ROTC were challenged as the cadets participated in three (3) events that simultaneously took place in different locations. First, during the color guard event held at Convention Hall and Narciso Ramos in Lingayen. A wedding guard event was held in Dagupan City on that day. There were 30 cadets deployed in Lingayen, escorted by Sudio.

Despite the hardship, his dedication to overcoming and continuing the training to develop his skills and leadership potential was unwavering. In all these activities, Corps Commander Sudio has remained true to his status as the “leader” of the 1CL ROTC.

Sudio believes that ROTC taught him the essence of humility and respect throughout his training. He said that he never saw himself as superior. He knows that he is not perfect, but he checks his decisions to see if they affect others or not. “Know if your action is for everyone or someone only,” he passionately told in an interview.

Dr. Romary R. Lincod, Director of NSTP, Sports Development, and PE, acknowledges the hard work, diligence, resiliency, and loyalty of the Batch Mandayog as she speaks her commencement speech. Meanwhile, Dr. Rey Raguindin, the NSTP Coordinator of PSU BINMALEY, dedicated his message to all ROTC cadets, stating that self-discipline is instilled in loyalty, courage, integrity, and patriotism.
