With the aim of increasing the competence of the faculty members and towards the fulfillment of the University mission on developing innovative and globally competent individuals, Pangasinan State University-Alaminos City Campus conducts online specialized training for faculty members under the new normal last September 17, 2021.
The event was under the initiative of HR Coordinator, Dr. Jenylyn V. Oboza and Campus Executive Director, Dr. Renato E. Salcedo. For the morning session, plenary speaker, DR. JUAN PRIMITIVO P. PETROLA, Education Supervisor II of the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office 1 (CHEDRO1), delivered his talk on Designing Learning Experiences: Aligning Goals, Methods, and Assessments. After his talk, an open forum followed wherein the faculty members voiced out their questions and concerns in the problems that they have and will be encountered while teaching in the new normal, to which Dr. Petrola willingly provided answers and suggestions.
In the afternoon, parallel sessions were conducted where the faculty members were grouped according to their specialization. The speakers for parallel sessions who delivered their talk on Teaching Approaches, Methods, and Current Trends in the different specializations include: DR. EDUARD M. ALBAY, Associate Professor V from Don Mariano Marcos Memorial Statue University (DMMSU), South La Union Campus for Mathematics; DR. STEPHENIE ONG-BUSBUS, Graduate Program Coordinator of School of Advanced Studies at Saint Louis University for Language Education; DR. RICARDO A. CATANGHAL, Dean of the College of Computing Sciences at University of Antique for Information Technology; DR. MARK IRVIN C. CELIS, Assistant Vice President of the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU), Cavite Campus for Hospitality Management; MR. ERUS ANGELO A. LUMAGUE, Instructor and Project Staff of Bulacan State University for Business Administration; and DR. JOY DELA PENA-TALENS, Program Chair of the Education Department of the College of Education, Arts, and Sciences at De La Salle Lipa for Professional and General Education. After the parallel sessions, a 30-minute open forum was held where faculty members raised questions regarding their speakers’ topic, expressed their appreciation, and shared their best practices with the speakers.
At the end of the program, certificates of recognition were awarded to the speakers. The program was officially closed by the Campus Administrative Officer, Professor Rene D. Cacho.
PSU-ACC continues to equip its teaching personnel by providing relevant professional trainings in order to have a solid workforce which will hone future individuals and professionals capable of meeting the needs of industry, public service, and civil society.
