BEST PRACTICES ALONG RESEARCH AND EXTENSION implementation and management of Pangasinan State University (PSU) were shared to the Bicol Consortium for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (BCIEERD) during a ‘meeting of minds’ program held at the Accreditation Room, Legacy Building in PSU Lingayen Campus, March 14.

Visitors from BCIEERD tune in with the Binmaley Campus best practices in research and extension.

Said program highlighted some of the PSU strategic goals such as strong research culture and technology transfer, sustainable social responsiveness, and customer focus.

Dr. Manolito C. Manuel, PSU Vice President for Research and Extension, extended the warm welcome to the BCIEERD team in behalf of Dr. Dexter R. Buted, PSU President. He also pronounced that the visit of BCIEERD team brought much hope to PSU to work even harder in the line of research and extension.

Prof. Benica S. Briones, PSU Director for Extension, and Dr. Raquel C. Pambid, PSU Director for Research, presented the university’s best practices in research and extension, respectively.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ruby Jane S. Gonzales, Consortium Director for BCIEERD, said that their goal in benchmarking PSU is to package collaborative research and development programs that could address technology needs of local communities or industries in the Bicol Region.

BCIEERD is one of the regional consortia partners of the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) and Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region 5. It is composed of public and private higher education institutions, regional line agencies , and private organizations in the Bicol Region.

Prior to the program, BCIEERD team visited PSU Binmaley Campus, a Center of Excellence in Fisheries, to observe and learn about fish processing methods and fish product development with the direction of Dr. Marcelo C. Gutierrez, PSU Binmaley Campus Executive Director, and Dr. Rosie S. Abalos, PSU Binmaley Campus Dean for College of Fisheries. The processing of fish products with the demonstration of students was actually seen by the BCIEERD team.
