The training on Fiberglass reinforced plastic boat was conducted by the Tanggol Kalikasan and Different IEG Centers in Region 1, including IEG-PSU. It has two (2) phases. Phase 1 was done virtually on February 15- 25, 2022. It was participated in by the LGU heads and staff from Pangasinan, La Union, and Ilocos Norte. Resources persons from BFAR in Manila were invited to discuss not only on the advantages of a fiberglass boat but also its, component, basic tools and materials needed and most importantly how to construct the boat.
On March 15-25, 2022 the hands-on training on FRPB construction was undertaken at PSU Urdaneta Campus. Ten (10) Trainees from the College of Engineering participated. They were joined by the staff, extension office from said college and the IEG-PSU team. A 30-footer boat was constructed for a period of 8 days only.
During the closing ceremony a representative from the Provincial Agriculture Office and DILG joined and inspected the output of the Training. A tripartite MOA between Tanggol Kalikasan, PSU and the Province of Pangasinan for wise utilization and maintenance of the boat.
