Events/ Activities

They will not be beaten!

The current officers of the Supreme Student Council of PSU Binmaley Campus are always on the go with their president, Telbian Patima Castillo shepherding them. Despite the onslaught of the pandemic, these student leaders went on with their activities to reach students of PSU Binmaley through the MS Teams platform. Since it is already the digital age and the new normal of education, the SSC did not have a challenging time exploring the various ways on making the students participate in their ventures. Almost every month, the SSC comes up with different themes to celebrate and encourage students to hang out with them. Student participants actively participate in said programs of the SSC as it serves as a breather for them from their academic life.

The SSC invites speakers to talk about matters that are socially relevant and relatable for most of the students such as the election and mental health. The student leaders not only engage themselves in their programs and activities. They also enrich themselves as student leaders as they part take in leadership training wherein the SSC invited a speaker, who was a former student leader and now slowly establishing himself, who made them work on activities that would reflect on them as student leaders. Aside from the leadership training, they also joined the seminar regarding Basic Legislative Procedures. This said was really helpful for them as they are working on their CBL.

Three of the officers are also part of the Federated Student Government, hence, they also attend activities of the FSG namely the amendment and ratification of the current Constitution and By-Laws of the FSG where they had it done in the Infanta and Lingayen campus and the team building held for two days at Punta Riviera in Bolinao. This event was held outside school premises after two years of pandemic. To ensure the safety of the students during their stay at the resort, SSC advisers from the different campuses were advised to come along.

During the two-day team building, students and advisers were all busy as a bee. Student leaders were asked to clean the beach after their arrival at the resort. In the afternoon, team relays were done to see the cooperation on each team as students were grouped accordingly. Later that night, they had their solidarity night for them to pen up pent-up feelings that might hinder them to achieve their goals. The following day the obstacle course was waiting for the excited students and advisers. The owner oriented everybody on the rules and regulations that must be followed inside the obstacle course to prevent any accidents. First aid personnel were present during the said event. Each group of students tried to outplay their opponent by working on the most convenient strategy.

All attendees were tired but very merry when each one started to pack for home. Before going home each student leader and adviser were given certificates for their active participation in the two-day action-packed team building. It certainly was memorable for the participants for they gained not only experiences but new friends as well.
